Clinics
IN PERSON SWIM & TRANSITION CLINIC – 90 MINUTES. Your race registration includes the option to add-on a pre race swim and transition clinic at no additional cost. They are highly recommended for athletes looking to improve their swim or transitions. Athletes should bring a swimsuit, goggles and wetsuit (if necessary) and be ready to get in the water. Below is a typical morning schedule. Each clinic is scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM on the day preceding the race. Often a special coach, professional athlete or Olympian is in attendance to lead the training.
The old joke of how to swim faster in open water is to establish one really good stroke and just do that a bunch of times. It’s funny because it’s true and it beats the alternative of reinforcing a bad stroke for long sets over long periods of time. If you are putting long hours in the pool without seeing the returns, please consider attending a Cal Tri Events swim clinic. Each year, thousands of athletes become better and more confident swimmers at one of our swim clinics. For each of the 5 focals, we describe it and demonstrate it before the participants get to practice it. After the session, each athlete is observed swimming and gets a pointer or two. While the 5 focals are listed below, there really is no substitute for investing the time at one of our clinics.
