“20-25% of athletes at each race are choosing to preserve their race entry fees by transferring or deferring to a later race with no reason required and no additional fees. When they are ready to race, we will be there for them,” said Thom Richmond, CEO of Cal Tri Events.
He added, “This type of policy aligns the athlete and the race around both financial and safety factors. Third- party insurance schemes have been made redundant and there have been some positive consequences. As an example, athletes who are either unprepared or uninterested in racing in inclement weather are not forced to make the choice to preserve their race fees by taking unwanted risks. They are able to transfer to a later date, creating a safer environment for all involved.”
Using the RunSignUp registration platform, the process is 100% automated and is completed by the athletes themselves.
