On behalf of the whole Cal Tri Events team, let me start by thanking all the volunteers and volunteer groups who made it possible for our athlete community to race in 2021. As you are likely aware, all of our volunteers got a free race entry via VOGO, Volunteer One, Get One

We approach 2022 focused on our “safe, affordable & accessible” mission knowing we can do anything, but we can’t do everything. Below is a short synopsis of the 2022 plan which includes 52 races and clinics.

  • 20 – Cal Tri Events Races.  A return to almost all of this year’s venues and 10 new races including Atlanta, Big Bear, Charlotte, Columbus, Indianapolis, Raleigh, Richmond, San Antonio, Ventura & Williamsburg
  • 20 In Person Swim & Transition Clinics. Get race ready with pre race swim and transition clinics Saturday morning before the race. Often a special coach, professional athlete or Olympian is in attendance to lead the training. Limited to race participants.
  • 12 – Monthly Virtual Clinics. Starts January 13 hosted by uber athlete Jordan Perry & Kelly Kosmo, first-ever Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Champion.
  • 2015 Pricing Maintained Through 2022. The Cal Tri Event Board Of Directors approved maintaining “2015 pricing” for 2022 (the 7th straight year of no price increases). That is remarkable considering if a race was purchased in 2022 for $60 then in 2015 that same race would cost $51.16 or -14.7%.

Here are some of the important milestones for 2021.

  • Mar 2021New Race Director Insurance Program from California Triathlon. Race directors from coast to coast lowered the cost of insurance to as low as $2.50 per athlete or 6x lower than the market rate while keeping athlete data secure.
  • May 2021. A successful return to racing in California at Lake Perris.
  • Jul 2021. Habitat For Humanity became an official Cal Tri Events Charity Partner. Athletes are able to donate or fundraise through 2022.
  • Sep 2021. Three-year extension for Cal Tri Lake Monticello
  • Oct 2021. Three-year extension for Cal Tri Newport Dunes
  • Oct 2021. A Cal Tri Events record 1,300 athletes registered for 2021 Newport Dunes. A 44% increase over 2019. 1,000 athletes finished.
  • 2021 New Venues. Austin, Charlottesville*, Crozet**, DC, Fort Worth, Lake Monticello*, Lake Perris, Walnut Creek*
