California Triathlon is pleased to announce the 2017 California Triathlon Grand Prix, a competitive series of 20 short course races throughout California with over $20,000 worth of SWAG up for grabs. The Grand Prix will offer fantastic sprint & Olympic distance options in the LA, San Francisco, San Diego and Orange County areas.  See the recent press release and the rest of the page for complete details.

Get in the Game!

The next steps are as easy as 1-2- 3.

  1. Mark Your Races & Register. Go to the California Triathlon calendar and mark the races you plan to complete in 2017. By doing so you will get registration updates and some exclusive Cal Tri deals we have been known to enjoy. When time comes, register for the race
  2. Put Together 3 Great Races. You have 20 races to pick from. Only your top 3 races are included in the competition so leave it all out there and go for it. This is the year to stop playing it safe and test your limits.
  3. 2017 Team Racing. “Early & Often” is Cal Tri’s team motto. Whether you are top of the podium or the last finisher you will greatly benefit by competing in these races as a team.

The Cal Tri Experience

Enjoy the “Cal Tri Experience” which includes coached support 90 days before each race, photographers on course and the VIP Finisher Circle & Recovery Zone areas

  1. COACHING. Cal Tri’s USAT Certified coaches will lead Cal Tri race registered athletes through a 12 week training program including base, build, race specific, taper and race day preparation. On race morning enjoy the pre-race “Start Your Engines” 10 minute loosener right before the team photo. We also encourage our 1 st time athletes to join the S.P.R.I.N.T. 90 Day Program Powered By Performance Bike and get a personal mentor and front-row access to monthly calls with coaches and special guests. Both programs are free.
  2. WINNERS CIRCLE. Cal Tri athletes, friends and family will enjoy coffee and light grub pre-race. Use the supply of poster board and markers to create some funny or motivational signs. After the finish line, join the rest of the team at the Cal Tri Winners
Circle for music, photo ops and games like Cal Tri corn hole. Please contact if you are interested in being one of the twenty 2017 California Triathlon Grand Prix Winners Circle leaders.
  3. TEAM RACK. We have secured a Cal Tri Team Rack with an overwhelming majority of our race partners so our athletes can enjoy additional team support and comradery on race morning. It makes it easier for us to hand out pre-race goodies.
  4. RECOVERY ZONE. Enjoy a post-race athletic massage, a cold towel, the recovery power of the Compex muscle stimulation products, Fluid Nutrition Recovery Drink, foam rollers and get clean(er) with a portable shower. The massages are free but we do request a small donation to benefit the Cal Tri “Kits For Kids” Program.
  5. PHOTOGRAPHY. With Harrison Shao’s leadership, Cal Tri athletes have been the beneficiary of high quality race photos for many years. If you would like to be on the Cal Tri Photo/Video team for a specific event please contact

If you still have questions, please see our Frequently Asked Questions list.

The California Triathlon California Grand Prix would not be possible without its sponsors.
